Frogspawn Thermal Insulation Spheres form a floating blanket ideal for use on the top of open process tanks. The system consists of hollow polymer spheres which are usually polypropylene that are floated on the surface of the liquid to provide a continuous insulating layer. Workloads like jigs and components can easily pass through the layer. The system is used extensively by electroplaters, anodisers, steel processors and chemical manufacturers.
The spheres are poured onto the surface of the liquid in the tank and automatically arrange themselves over the whole surface giving a physical cover of 91% of the area (irrespective of size). The air inside the hollow spheres and the air pockets between them provides insulation. The spheres are smooth (do not have rims) allowing complete coverage of the liquid while held in place by frictional contact. The smooth surface minimises dirt pick up and allows awkward workloads to easily pass through.
There is a range of sizes of spheres all of which provide the same insulating properties. The appropriate size depends upon the area to be covered, the size of any outlets or pipes in the tank and the size and shape of workload components.
